Overview

OrcaRest – web-based SaaS application for restaurant business automation. Cashbox, accounting, warehouse, kitchen, staff, CRM – all in one system.

Tasks

The client provided a live product with a required UX/UI update, as well as an initial version of a new visual UI style that had been developed by a previous designer. The following had to be done:

• Based on the live web app and already created layouts, refine the UX.
• Continue the development of the UI, making the minimum number of improvements necessary.
• Develop a modular and scalable design system.
• Adaptive interface: web, mobile.
• Complete the creation of stage 1: interface section for the restaurant employee.
• Lay the groundwork for the following sections: restaurant manager, restaurant chain manager, kitchen.
• Organize the ease of use of materials for developers.

Challenges

The system is rich in functionality and shows a lot of different data, which it should be easy to use:

1. on different devices: some screens should look good not only on a desktop and mobile, but also on a TV screen in a kitchen;

2. in different work situations: for example, during a rush or a large influx of visitors.

It was necessary to develop a flexible, compact and informative design in which even on small screens the system would show the maximum amount of useful information without loss of quality of perception.
